This quote sums up the basic foundation the Gathering was formed on seven years ago. Specifically, the sharing of knowledge to be taken home and shared with others, along with having the opportunity to meet face-to-face and network with friends met in the cyber-gourding world. But the ‘Gourd Glow’ experienced by most participants during this event far outshines a candle.
The Cherokee Reservation, nestled at the foot of the Smoky Mountains, is awe-inspiring in itself. The facilities at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds where the event is held lends itself well to a bunch of enthusiastic gourd artists. Everywhere you look, there’s nothing but gourding activities going on. Classes, demonstrations, inspiring displays of finished art, vendors with everything from A-to-Z and back again, and piles and piles of top-quality raw gourds to choose from.
Here you will find very affordable classes thanks to all the teachers who volunteer their time and effort for next-to-nothing for this special annual event. The wealth of knowledge and experience they bring to the Gathering is immeasurable. Whether new or old to gourding, no one leaves without new skills, fresh inspiration, new friends, and great memories!
The Fairgrounds is located at 441 Sequoyah Trail in Cherokee, NC, right beside the Museum of the Cherokee Indian.
