In this class, students will learn about some unusual products that can be used to embellish gourds, including: Friendly Plastic, Angelina Fibers, Polymer Clay, Wire, Paper, Fabric, and Decoupage. The techniques they learn include: Friendly Plastic molding/blending/shaping, simple wire shaping/coiling, Angelina Fiber fusing/cutting/beading, paper and fabric beading, Polymer Clay canes/beads/buttons/pendants, and fabric decoupage. There will be some discussion of the myriad of other techniques that can be used with these mediums; and supply resources will be included.
The instructor will provide all necessary supplies including: cleaned/cut/sanded gourd bowls, jewery and clay tools, wire, rotary cutters/mats, Mod Podge, Folk Art Water-Based Stains, Angelina Fibers, Friendly Plastic, Sculpey Studio Clay, Sculpey Texture Plates, Teflon/heat-resistant sheets, brushes, water basins, rulers, scissors, irons, griddle, craft oven, wax, different types of papers, fabrics, cording/floss, skewers, glue, glass beads, waxed linen, tapestry needles, paper towels, palettes, parchment paper, sponges, etc.
Students should bring a pair of sharp craft scissors and a hair dryer/heat gun, if possible. They should also bring an apron or smock to protect their clothing. The instructor will have some hair dryers/heat guns and scissors available for student use.
For a savings of $5.00, students may bring their own following supplies:
A cleaned, cut, and sanded gourd bowl.
