7 Hours - All Levels  (2-part class)
Part 1:  Friday 9 - 12Part 2:  Saturday 8 - 12

Students will learn about the properties of air-dry clay, use of clay sculpting tools, techniques for sculpting Santa's face/beard/fir trim, the proper use/care/cleaning of brushes and tools, painting and shading techniques to achieve a realistic appearance.  The first 3-hour session will be spent sculpting the Santa; and the clay will then need to dry overnight.  The next day's 4-hour session will be spent doing the finish-sanding (if needed) and painting their creation.  This class is for all levels, from beginner to advanced.  While the sculpting may look complicated, it is really quite do-able, when broken down into easy-to-follow steps.  With the techniques learned in this class students should be able to apply their own creativity to any number of other projects.

Instructor will provide all necessary supplies including: cleaned and sanded kettle gourds, air-dry clay, clay sculpting tools (rollers, lifters, cutters, 5-in-1 tool sets), brushes, acrylic paints, floating medium, glue, water basins, paper towels, foam plates, sea sponges, parchment paper, and sandpaper.  Each student will receive an instruction packet w/photo of sample project.

Students should bring an apron or smock to protect their clothing.  While the paint used is water-based acrylic, if it dries on fabric, it is difficult to remove.  If possible, students should bring a hair dryer or heat gun.  The instructor will have hair dryers/heat guns available for student use, if they are unable to bring their own.

For a savings of $5.00, students may bring their own following supplies:
6-8" tall Kettle Gourd...must be cleaned and sanded prior to class

Walk-ins welcome if class is not full
