Twined Waxed Linen Rim on Mini Gourd - Elly Groover
3 Hours - All Levels
Sunday Morning 9 - Noon
Minimum # Students: 1
Maximum # Students: 12
$30.00
Student will learn how to twine a waxed linen rim on a mini gourd.
The Instructor will provide the following:
Instructor will furnish kits which include: a small cleaned, cut and polished gourd with the holes already punched around the rim and with the spokes already inserted, 2 colors of waxed linen and a tutorial. Inserting the waxed linen spokes into the tiny holes is very time consuming. With only the weaving to do, you could nearly finish the rim in class.
Students should bring:
A pair of scissors and a small awl, small screwdriver or a seam ripper to pack the rows of waxed linen tightly.
For a savings of $15.00, students may bring their own:
Mini gourd and 2 colors of waxed linen. Bring a 1.5"- 2" gourd with holes punched a little less than 1/4" below the rim. Use a push pin to punch the holes tightly together, about 10-12 holes per inch. To do the design on the picture, you need an uneven number of holes. Count your holes, divide the number by 2 and cut that number of 5" spokes (for 40 holes, cut 20 5" spokes plus one 3" spoke for the uneven numbered hole). Have the spokes inserted into the tiny holes. One spoke takes up two holes, in from the front in one hole and out from the back in the next hole. Tie a small knot at the end of the 3" spoke and insert it in the remaining hole with the knot on the inside.
