This year we are going to build an Ocean drum. We had very good participation in last year's Ocean Drum  project and there is continuing interest in these instruments. So we decided to do it again this year.

We plan on doing the drum's construction on Friday. So by Saturday morning it will be ready to decorate.   (Maybe it will be ready Friday evening. It depends on how well the glue is drying. Please stop by and see us to  find out.). Hopefully we will have a beautiful instrument to put in the Auction Saturday night.

This year as an added bonus we will also be making an Ipu Heke. An Ipu Heke is a Hawaiian type of drum. It  differs from most other drums in the fact that it does not use a skin drum head. When struck against a (padded) solid surface an Ipu Heke will make a deep resonant bass thump.

We have also been thinking of building a berinbau. However we are still looking for a suitable piece of wood to  be used as the bow stave.  If you think that you might be able to help in this matter or if you have any other thoughts or ideas please contact Rich "Batt" Battstone.

Remember your participation in these Projects is vitally important! We are only asking for a small amount of your  time (and we will try to make it fun!). So please stop by and be part of these projects. Tell us your thoughts and ideas on these or other things you would like to build.

We can't do it without YOU!!
