Students will learn how to use crushed glass to create a faux stained glass technique on a gourd. This technique can be adapted to many patterns, and we will discuss the types of design that will work best. We will be doing the peace dove in this class. Students will also learn how to wire the lighting kit.
The Instructor will provide the following:
Prepared gourd: cleaned inside and out, with design cut out, finished inside and out
7" wooden lamp base w/center hole and pre-drilled wire way
Candelabra socket light kit w/cord , wheel-type on-off switch, lightbulb, locknut, nipple, vinyl washers, and

socket cover
Crushed glass, glue, needle tip applicator bottle
Miscellaneous: toothpicks, paper plates, bowls, tape, water containers, box or tray to work in, etc.
Handout with pattern and detailed instructions
Students should bring:
An old towel (to keep fingers clean and dry), can be hand-sized or kitchen towel
Tweezers and a small penlight or mini MagLite may be helpful, but are not required. These will be most helpful
during the second step.
NOTE:
This project will be nearly finished during class, but a second step may be required after a drying period of at
least 24 hours. The Instructor will provide each student with extra crushed glass and glue to complete the
project.
