Up in the sky!
It's a bird!
It's a plane.
It's......
Who is that Masked Gourd?
Join in the fun
and enter a gourd mask
in our first ever
Mask Contest!
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
Most Humorous
Best Use of Embellishments
Most Authentic
Best Animal
People's Choice (overall favorite)
Each mask will be displayed with an assigned number, along with the 'name' of your mask if you desire.
YOU are the judges of this contest!
Ballots will be available for all attendees to cast a vote for the masks they like best.
The "Most Authentic" category refers to a mask likely to be used in a cultural ceremony. "People's Choice" is your favorite of all the masks. It may or may not fall into any of the other categories, for instance it could be the prettiest, most artistic, elaborate, scariest, ugliest ~ well, you get the point!
Voting will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday,
so be sure to stop by and cast your ballot during lunch or a class break!
To enter the contest, bring your mask to the MASK CONTEST area during
Registration periods, which are:
Thursday evening from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Friday morning from 8:00 - 9:00 am.
If you will be arriving at the Gathering after the Registration periods, you can still enter until 9:00 am on Saturday. Check with the folks in the Registration Area and they'll point you in the right direction!
If you will be donating your mask (optional) to one of the fundraisers - Auction or Raffle - you will also be given a donation form to fill out, and your mask tag will include the assigned number, mask name if you have one, and an 'A' or 'R' (Auction or Raffle) so folks will know where it's headed in the grand scheme of things - or you may choose to place your mask in the Gourd Art Exchange.
Winners will be announced before the Auction gets underway on Saturday night. Winners will receive monetary prizes (a little extra shopping $$$)!
