Students will first woodburn a design, then carefully remove the surrounding gourd skin for a relief carving. Next will come staining of the gourd, painting the design, and finally, coiling of seagrass with a length of dried cholla.
INSTRUCTOR PROVIDES
Paint, stain, gloves, brushes, pattern, carbon paper, seagrass, cholla, needle, waxed linen and misc. supplies.
STUDENT SHOULD BRING
Gourd, semi thick with at least a 6 wide by 7 tall design space.
Also, woodburner and carver with several round ball bits, small and medium.
Walk-ins welcome if class is not full (must bring dried gourd)
