Students will make a hanging gourd light. Students will learn how to cut and clean the inside of a gourd. Utilizing supplied patterns, students will transfer the design, mark hole locations and drill holes to form the designs on the gourd. Students will also learn to apply the leather dyes and finish the gourd. Instruction will be provided for installation of furnished light hardware. Different types of lighting hardware and bulb types will be discussed.  Other types of gourd lights will be displayed and discussed.

INSTRUCTOR PROVIDES
Cleaning tools & supplies, patterns, rulers, compasses light kits and bulbs, colored transparent beads, leather dyes, hole saw, a written tutorial and an 18 to 24 inch circumference cannon ball or bushel basket gourd.

STUDENT SHOULD BRING          
Respirator, cordless drill, 1/16", 3/32", 1/8", 5/32", 3/16" and 11/32 or 3/8" drill bits and a awl or hand punch to mark holes.

For a savings of $7.00, students may bring their own:
18 to 24 inch circumference cannon ball or bushel basket gourd
(remember - circumference is measuring all the way around the largest part of a gourd)
