Have a great Gathering experience!
Here are some tips to help you
make the most of the
Cherokee Gourd Artists Gathering:
Classes are outside (under cover of roof or canopies). It may be hot or cold, wet or dry ~ be prepared for any weather by packing clothing you can layer, sun screen and bug spray, and an umbrella might come in handy.
Meals, snacks, and drinks will be available from the folks at Creek Hollow Farm. The Gourd Eats Cafe is accessible from the Lobby entrance or the Exhibit Hall.
Payment for classes is made directly to the teacher of that session.
Most teachers do not accept credit card payment, so be prepared with cash (preferred) or checks.
The Gathering itself is not set up to take credit cards either when purchasing raffle tickets, Journal of Tutorials, auction items, etc.
Read all your class descriptions and make sure you bring what is required. Don't forget your dust mask or respirator!
Since you need to bring your own tools, you might consider using a wheeled tote or cart for getting your things from class to class. Also, remember to put your name on all your tools and supplies.
A lot of walking is involved throughout the weekend ~ wear comfortable shoes!
If you are like some of us, and sitting on a hard surface (steel chairs) for a period of time gets uncomfortable, you may want to bring a chair pad or pillow to sit on.
Bring address labels to quickly complete Raffle Ticket information.
Keep paper and pencil handy for jotting down notes or contact information for new friends!
No dogs are allowed on the Fair Grounds. We love our four-legged furry kids, but they are not allowed on the grounds.
Be sure to come through Registration to pick up your packets and class schedule. Early registration is Thursday 4-6 pm, and the regular Registration is Friday morning from 8-9 am. Be sure to look through your registration packet for the Agenda and other surprises!
Registration times are also when you will enter the name badge contest, theme gourd contest, turn in donations for auction and raffle, turn in your exchange gourds, and anything else you want to participate in. If you cannot be there during the registration times, someone will be at the Registration area at all times to help get you up to speed!
