6th Annual
Cherokee Gourd Artists Gathering
Journal of Tutorials
Be published in the
Each author published will receive 10 FREE Raffle Tickets!
One of the best things to come out of the Gathering is the traditional Journal of Tutorials.  It is a collection of tutorials from many of the classes and demonstrations presented during the event, as well as tutorials on other subjects including ones from gourd artists that are unable to attend the Gathering.

We would like to include as many informative tutorials for as many different techniques as possible, and are accepting submissions from all interested parties.  Even if you are not teaching at the Gathering and wish to have your tutorial included in the Journal, please send it to us!  All contributors to the Journal will have 10 free Raffle Tickets placed in the drawing for prizes!

For the second time, we will include color photos in the Journal this year!

In addition to technique tutorials, we are interested in business advice...booth setup, photography, selling, pricing, galleries, etc.  If you have information and tips to share with others along these lines, we'd love to include them!

Deadline for submissions is May 1, 2008 (no exceptions!)
(But the sooner, the better of course!)

Tutorials are to include the following:

Name of the project
Author's name
List of supplies needed
Easy step-by-step directions
Format as specified below
Biographical sketch about yourself (1-2 paragraphs)
Picture of yourself if possible
At least one photo of the finished project
You may also include photos of various stages of completion

Specifications for Submissions

Choose one of the 3 following methods to submit a tutorial:

1)  Email: Your tutorial typed in your email message. Photos attached separately.

2)  Email: Your tutorial saved as a .doc or .txt and attached to your email message and your photos
also attached.

3)  Snail mail: Clearly typed document and original photos sent separately.  Keep your document
within approximately 7” wide x 9.5” tall.  Judy will email you her snail mail if requested.

TEXT
Text must be saved as a .doc or .txt
Please do not save your document as a .wps
If you have done your tutorial in Microsoft Publisher, please save it as a .txt file. You don’t have to retype anything, simply open your document and save as .txt

PHOTOS
Most tutorials have photos. If I receive your document with the photos in place, the photos will not print well. I need the original photo file – not just a picture of it. Please attach the photos with your word document.

Photos should be taken at the highest resolution your camera will allow. Save them as .jpg or .png. If you have the capability to edit your photo, i.e. cropping, lighting, please let me know that your photos do not have to be retouched.
