Students will learn how to use crushed glass to create a faux stained glass technique on a gourd. This technique can be adapted to many patterns, and we will discuss the types of design that will work best. We will be using five colors of crushed glass and completing the rose and butterfly design in this class.
INSTRUCTOR PROVIDES:
Prepared gourd: cut, cleaned inside and out, painted and sealed interior, hole cut for clip-in light, and the
design applied and cut out, ready for glass application
Crushed Glass (red, green, yellow, orange, dark blue)
Glue plus needle tip applicator bottle
Clip-in light kit
Miscellaneous: toothpicks, paper plates, bowls, tape, water containers, box or tray to work in, etc.
Handout with pattern, photos, and detailed instructions
STUDENT SHOULD BRING:
An old towel (to keep fingers clean and dry), can be hand-sized or kitchen towel
NOTE:
This project will be nearly finished during class, but a second step may be required after a drying period of at
least 24 hours. The Instructor will provide each student with extra crushed glass and glue to complete the
project.
